The acoustic tradition of Maloya, the blues of the island of Reunion.

Danyel Waro has always stayed faithful to the acoustic tradition of Maloya and he is recognized as its ‘hero’. As a musician and poet, he sings Creole with unparalleled emotion: ‘Maloya, for me, is first and foremost about the word,’ he says. ‘I’m looking for the cadence, the image, the rhythm in the word. Maloya has put me in touch with Reunion, with its people, with our language.’
