Limericks

An introduction to the poetic form known as the limerick, from its origins in the 1600s to today. Example poems and analysis explore such elements as wit and nonsense.

Part of the Poetry Basics series

Poetry need not be complicated. In fact, some of the most time-honored forms of this creative writing style are intended largely for children. Poetry Basics combines colorful illustrations with accessible example poems and fundamental analysis to introduce readers to the simplicity of haiku, humor of limericks, “music” of nursery rhymes, and imaginative forms of concrete poetry.
